High Five for the Thigh High

High five for the thigh highs allowing me to bring my favorite shift dresses into my winter wardrobe! Loving these warm, knitted cuties. Pair with a boot or bootie, layer or rock them bare, or throw them on with a comfy pair of PJ shorts. There a million and one ways to own the thigh high.

Free People

Fray Pointelle Over the Knee Sock

As pictured, these thigh highs can be worn with a dress or layered over jeans for added interest. I wore my wine colored ones over my dark jeans, threw on a pair of Frye Boots and automatically spiced up my outfit with the added color and texture. I wore my gray version of these thigh highs with the same Free People blouse that I converted into a dress. (I’ll be writing a separate blog post on how to do this soon, so keep and eye out!) The wine colored thigh highs work better over the dark jeans and the darker gray version worked best on a bare leg because the color is a bit more neutral. Knee High boots work well with both options but I went with a low bootie when rocking the bare legged version to help make my legs look longer. Being only 5 feet tall, I find this to be a consistent goal of  mine.

Urban Outfitters

Diamond Ruffle Over-The-Knee Sock

I am a huge fan of Urban Outfitter’s wide assortment of adorable socks. They have an array of options coming in all different heights, colors, textures, designs and thicknesses. My Current Favorite is the Diamond Ruffle Over-The-Knee Sock in black. Just making the picture below, where I wore them with a favorite Free People dress of mine.

American Apparel

Opaque Over-the-Knee Sock

These Knee Highs were originally purchased to be used with my Halloween costume, and I have definitely gotten my money’s worth. I purchased them in both black and white and I love how they look with a loose fitting dress. A more trendy way to rock these guys is with a skirt or if you’re in the mood to be different, a pair of acid washed jean shorts and a cute cropped sweater. These thigh highs are also great if you’re trying to find a way to make a garter belt work. I used one for my Halloween costume which is why they come up much higher on my leg. They go high enough to easily attach to garter clips without peeking out! (Keep in mind, my legs are much shorter than most so my version of “high” may differ from yours!) This keeps the look classy but you have all the benefits of wearing your favorite lingerie underneath. They are thicker than typical tights and smooth and soft to the touch! They are definitely a versatile must have!
