If you’re looking for an lovely vacation that will fuel your endless appetite for both adventure and yummy food and beverages, the Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana is a great place to consider. This trip was a family affair and accommodated each person’s unique expectations for an enjoyable vacation.

You may wake up in the mood to float around the pool and then decide you’re thirsty so you grab a glass of champagne, or maybe the bottle, and continue to float on. Then your tummy rumbles so you head over to one of the many restaurant options for a nice lunch. Need to rest off the itis? Nap time in the cabana then roll on over for a massage accompanied by the soothing sounds of the waves crashing onto shore.

Craving some adrenaline? Go on the ATV adventure and ride around muddy trails, high-fiving local children and dodging stray puppies along the way. Don’t forget to hydrate, Mamajuana shots for all! Stay cool and scuba dive in a ship wreck and swim with the sting rays. Finish the day with a perfect meal with your favorite people, who you just so happen to be related to. Indulge in a nice cocktail, glass of wine, martini or all of the above while enjoying the warm ocean breeze. Sounds like the definition of vacation to me. And for those of you that have never been to the Dominican Republic, once it’s stamped in your passport, you can cross it off your to-do travel list.

This was my first all-inclusive experience, but it most certainly won’t be my last. I enjoyed the ease of everything the most. An all-inclusive is very similar to a cruise on land but I found the proximity from the room to the beach a greatly appreciated difference. This resort had a beautiful white sand beach and the most spacious and well maintained accommodations, with the exception of one too many cheesy Christmas decorations. We stayed in a Junior Suite that had a jetted jacuzzi tub and a great balcony overlooking the endless pool.

There are three areas of the resort, and the Elegance area had special accommodations such as a concierge service, private lounge with 24/7 drinks and snacks, beach and pool cabanas and a private pool separate from the main area. Our room was fully stocked with champagne, hard liquor, beer, aromatherapy, and a whole menu of pillow options depending on your sleeping preferences. We were also pleasantly pleased by the lighting in our room, allowing us to adjust them according to our mood and setting the vibe for a comfortable retreat after a long day in the sun.

My parents had the most amazing suite overlooking the pool and ocean that had two jacuzzi tubs, one on their large balcony and one inside their two-bedroom abode. This room came with a butler who helped make our family’s stay even more luxuroious. Our butler, Dario, made our dining reservations and ensured we were well taken care of throughout our stay. He also provided an endless supply of smiles and positive vibes we were all grateful for.

We did two excursions. The first was an ATV Adventure where we road quads through the muddiest trails starting at a beach with a spider monkey and iguanas and ending in a fresh water cave with a very cool waterfall (pun intended).

The second excursion was a boat trip to Saona Island which included two scuba dives (one ship wreck dive and one open-water dive), a bbq lunch on the island and a pit stop in a shallow swimming area with star fish.

My goal was to always have the sun on my face, a cocktail in my hand and my feet in the sand. Goal accomplished.
